02SITE SECURITY AND SAFETY

Safety today. Energy for tomorrow.

Protecting people and property starts with a clear site layout and disciplined operations. The TRACKS framework connects site security and safety with everyday work, bringing together risk prevention, scheduled inspections, clear responsibilities, emergency preparedness and review.

THE SAFETY FRAMEWORK

  • Prevention
  • Inspection
  • Response
  • Documentation
  • Review
01

Fuel and refuelling equipment

The prevention framework prioritizes the condition of dispensers, hoses and nozzles, with attention to signs of leakage and obstructions around the working area. Technical observations are connected to a clear path for action and follow-up.

02

Fire and ignition risks

The framework addresses fire, smoking and ignition risks in a fuel-handling environment, alongside visible warning signs and extinguisher locations. It brings together prevention, inspection and awareness of safe conduct at the station.

03

Movement and site safety

Clear vehicle routes, entrances and exits contribute to protecting customers, workers and property. Site priorities include clean forecourts, orderly access to refuelling and service areas, and identifying anything that may obstruct movement or affect safe use.

04

Worker safety

The safety framework focuses on personal protective equipment, fuel-handling procedures and awareness of site hazards. Safe-behaviour training and clear working responsibilities form part of prevention in daily operations and technical work.

05

Maintenance and work permits

The maintenance framework links work requests with risk assessment and clear responsibility, followed by a work permit when required before execution. Follow-up includes closure review and evidence, with particular attention to work involving fuel, energy sources or vehicle movement.

06

Emergency preparedness

The framework covers evacuation routes, assembly points and emergency equipment locations, alongside reporting, escalation and response responsibilities. Preparedness includes reviewing observations and incidents to improve readiness and reduce the recurrence of risks.

03SCHEDULED INSPECTIONS

Inspections across the station.

Inspection checklists connect the condition of the site and its equipment with issues that need follow-up. The framework includes daily, weekly and monthly inspections, with observations recorded and linked to appropriate action. Five inspection areas bring together site readiness, equipment condition and conduct at the station.

INSPECTION FREQUENCIES IN THE FRAMEWORK

  • Weekly
  • Monthly

Open each area to explore what the inspection covers.

The inspection scope covers clear entrances, exits and traffic directions, clean forecourts, and visible guidance and warning signs. Identifying obstructions and concerns in these spaces supports orderly access to refuelling and service areas, with attention to people moving through the station.

04OPERATIONAL OVERSIGHT

Oversight on site. Clear responsibility.

The site security and operational oversight framework connects the protection of people and property with attention to site conditions and working practices. Clear follow-up depends on understanding each observation, its significance, who is responsible for action and what evidence supports closure.

Attention to conditions on site

Observing refuelling areas, forecourts and traffic routes, and reviewing concerns about equipment and conduct. This scope connects oversight with conditions at the station and links observations to prevention, maintenance or corrective action.

Digital records and reviewable evidence

The documentation framework includes digital records, photographs when needed, and retained observations and actions. The aim is to provide a clear inspection and treatment history that supports review of the action taken.

Clear ownership and escalation

Linking observations to an action owner and target date, with a route for escalating critical items to management. Clear responsibility supports follow-up, review of items requiring intervention and verification of closure.

Review that supports compliance and improvement

Organizing checklists, action records and evidence to support internal review and provide a reference for regulatory reviews. Examining recurring observations helps identify improvements, update checklists and connect inspections with maintenance and awareness needs.

05FROM OBSERVATION TO CLOSURE

Clear follow-up. Through to closure.

Follow-up runs from defining the inspection scope to reviewing the effect of corrective action. Five stages show how the TRACKS framework connects observations with responsibility, verification and continuous improvement.

Explore the inspection areas
  1. 01

    Define the inspection

Identify the station, area and inspection time so that each observation has a clear, traceable context.

  2. 02

    Record the observation

Describe the condition or risk and add a photograph when needed to help explain the observation and identify appropriate action.

  3. 03

    Assign action and ownership

Link corrective action to a named owner and target date, with critical items escalated through the framework’s follow-up process.

  4. 04

    Verify closure

Review the work completed and its evidence to verify that the hazard has been addressed and identify any need for further follow-up.

  5. 05

    Review and improve

Use recurring observations to inform checklist updates and improvements to operating practices, maintenance and awareness.
